Hi there,
Help, I have found myself in a jam, and I’m searching for help.
I have a client who has some area’s above his garage and entry-way that were left blank, just plywood painted white. Around all that is brick.
Anyway, I made a bid that he accepted, to do some faux brick work inside of it. Obviously it’s exterior, and all my faux brick work is done with simple joint compound to shape about 1/8 an inch off the walls and then I paint/faux to make it looks like whatever look I’m going for, brick, stone, ect…
Well this is exterior, and I’m not sure how I can pull this off! Can you recommend a way to put textured brick about 1/8 inch thick, then paint or stain to match surrounding brick? I was thinking of using mortar to shape the brick then some sort of stain.
Thank you,
In answer to this question:
Durham Donald #169 4LB Water Putty I don’t know if you have ever tried this product… but it will work for this project very well. It’s different to work with than joint compound as it dries to a rock hard substance but is porous so it will take watery paints very well .
You can create textures and multi-colored bricks with this stuff…. it’s amazing. It is actually meant for exterior use!
