I have a brick fireplace that has been painted an ugly color. Instead of just painting over it, I would like a faux brick "break out" look. I would like to plaster the whole thing with white plaster and then before it dries cut out some pieces and paint the bricks underneath (later) red brick color as if the plaster fell off. (I saw it at an Italian restaurant.) Is this covered in any of your videos? What kind of plaster do I use? And do you have any tips?
Thanks!

Hi I just saw the pictures of the walls and the breakout brick that was done at the volunteer fire department.
That faux wall color is exactly what I want to do in my house. What technique was used and what were the colors? I would really appreciate your help.
